Summary of presentation:
Sir Ernest Shackleton attempted to cross the Antarctic continent in 1914, leading the amazing and famous survival story Endurance. The first successful crossing of Antarctica was by vehicle in 1955-58 by Sir Vivian Fuchs and Sir Edmund Hillary. Since then, only 3 or 4 other groups have attempted to do so, with so many logistical and natural obstacles in their way. Last month Dave was able to successfully complete the same journey, and can share a detailed look at this rare experience on the coldest, driest, windiest and highest continent on Earth.
