We are happy to announce that the long awaited merger of the Albany and Schenectady chapters of the
Adirondack Mountain Club is almost complete. All we are waiting for now is one small formality from the
state government to be completed and the deed will be done! Those of us in the ADK local leadership are
thrilled with this new arrangement and we think you will be too.
Two Tuesdays ago we were also excited when 15 to 20 ADK members from Schenectady joined about
the same number from Albany for our first jointly held general meeting. At our meeting we had time for
socializing, which was followed by an exciting and fun education program about moose in the
Adirondacks, and everyone was given a free ticket for our fun raffle.
We have many more monthly meetings planned and we want to encourage you to make attendance a
regular event on your calendars. Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month from October to
May, and a picnic in June. In addition, we are regularly organizing joint outings and more. Details of
meetings, outings, and other events can always be found on our calendar
at https://albany.adk.org/outings-activities/
Last but not least, stayed tuned for the “unveiling” soon of a beautiful new logo for our combined chapter
that will be used for a banner, stationary, patches, car stickers, and any other merchandise that members
may like.
We hope we will be seeing even more of you soon, and we hope you will consider sharing your time and
skills at whatever level you want to give. We are always looking for new talent to help us run the chapter,
with many opportunities available.
Please contact us with your thoughts, suggestions, and questions – we would love to hear from you. You
can reach us by e-mail at contact@albany-adk.org .
Sincerely,
Erasmus Schneider, chapter chair
Paul Tick, membership chair
