The Albany Chapter along with its parent Club is dedicated to the protection and responsible recreational use of the New York Forest Preserve, parks and other wild lands and waters. The Chapter is a wholly volunteer organization committed to public service and stewardship. It seeks to use a balanced approach to outdoor recreation, advocacy, environmental education and natural resource conservation. The Albany Chapter was established on October 13, 1922, six months after the Main Club. Today the Albany Chapter membership numbers over 2000 and the organization hosts numerous outings, and volunteer trail-work opportunities all over Upstate New York for people of all abilities. This website is here to help you get to know the Adirondack Mountain Club organization, to provide you with information on current environmental protection efforts pursued by ADK, and to help coordinate recreational outings.
