I led a hike with Terry, Kelly, Roman, and Jonathan. Kelly is trying to finish all the Catskill 3500 peaks. So we did this one for her. We started from the DEC parking lot in Platte Clove. The trail starts as a wide rocky road with gradual ascent. At this point it is part of Long Path so we followed the blue markers. There was no mention of Kaaterskill High Peak on the signs. I followed the route on Gaia. The trail leveled off through a lovely evergreen forest with some muddy spots. Then we turned left off Long Path for the final steep rocky ascent to the summit where there was an orange canister but no view. We continued a short ways to Hurricane Ledge for a great view. We never did see the remnants of the plane crash, but did see wood sorrel, bunch berry blossoms, and heard warblers. I was cooler and more comfortable up there than it was in the valley.
